Lure Coursing Equipment Packages

 

 

SUGGESTIONS FOR GETTING STARTED:

The first thing you will need is a lure machine.  The STD Lure Machine has one direction rotation and has been the standard of the sport for over 30 years.  If your budget allows, there is no better machine to train puppies and to keep the experienced dog running true than the electronically Reversible Lure Machine. (click on the "Machines" button above)

Next, if you want to run a continuous loop system, you will need the S/S Continuous Loop Wheel to run the course and a Take Up Wheel to retrieve and store your string.  If you want to run a drag system or practice straight racing, you will only need the Take Up Wheel.

Now for the pulleys......95% of the time, the STD Corner Pulley should be used.  The minimum number required to set up a basic course is six.  With eight or ten corner pulleys, you can make a more interesting and challenging course for the dogs.  If the terrain where you will be coursing is uneven, you will probably need some hold down pulleys to keep the string close to the ground.

The nylon string is recommended for continuous loop coursing and the polyester string works best for drag coursing or straight racing.

The last item you need to purchase locally....a 12 volt RV/Marine battery or what is usually referred to as a deep cycle battery.
